Think about how many of us carry feelings of shame, guilt and self hate throughout our day to day lives. Now think about how many people you know who walk the earth with a completely untarnished past? It's difficult to find this mythical being who's standards are so ridiculously high; and, even harder to understand why we each seem to hold ourselves up to this code of behavior that is so clearly unreachable.
Everyone feels regret for something, at some point or another. No one is perfect. Perfection is not expected of you. Only what you yourself can yield to the circumstances around you.
We are however expected to learn and grow from our mistakes and experiences. We are expected to move beyond the shame that they hold, and listen to what they are trying to teach us.
Each day is a new beginning. What has happened in our past only enriches the person we are today. It prepares us for the future when we may be called upon to help others and most importantly, help ourselves.
We must let go of our shame, of our doubt, of our feelings of worthlessness. We are not without fault, but by the same reasoning we are not without strength.
